5th Annual 5K Run/Walk for Life

🏃‍♂️Race Overview

The Family Life Center will be hosting its 5th Annual 5K Run/Walk for Life! Please help us make this race a huge success and allow us to continue to provide education, parenting classes, ultrasounds and help to young families in the area.

🗓️Schedule of Events

• Packet Pickup: Thursday, May 8, 2025 – 2:00pm – 5:00pm at Family Life Center, 605 Eden Ave, Effingham, IL
• Late Registration: Saturday, May 10, 2025, 7:00 – 7:45 am
• Race Start: 8:00 am
• Awards: 9:15 am for 1st-3rd place in each age group

Prayer Warrior Walk: Starts at 9:30 am (no medals given for this walk)

💵Registration Fees

• 5K: $25 per person or $75/family of 5
• Race shirt: Not included after April 28th, small quantities available for purchase on race day
• Includes: Race entry, T-shirt*, packet, bib, and timed chip
• Note: Registration available on race day: T-shirts while supplies last

📋Race Day FAQ

🏷️Race Packet Pick-up

Packet pick-up will be located at Family Life Center, 605 Eden Ave, Effingham, IL on Thursday: 2pm - 5pm and at the EPC, 1325 Outer Belt W, Effingham, IL on Saturday: 7:00am - 7:45am

Note: EPC will be available for restrooms only.

🛤️Course

The 5K Run/Walk for Life starts at EPC, continues through the Trek Trail (paved), and returns to the EPC. The course does have some hills and flat portions with beautiful scenery. Please be advised that portions of the course will remain open to traffic.

⏱️Timing

Bib timing will be provided by Kinetic Timing. You must pick up your official race bib at the designated packet pick-up time. Please attach the official bib to the front of your shirt prior to the race. If you do not have a bib, you will not be timed.

🎟️Race Number

Pin your race number/bib to the front of your shirt, plainly and visibly to race officials, drivers, photographers, and spectators. All participants must wear an official race number/bib.

🚰Health and Safety

Drink fluids before, during, and after the race. Stay hydrated! There will be a water station along the course. Traffic control will be provided by FLC volunteers and the Effingham Police Dept. However, please be advised that although volunteers along the course will deter traffic to the best of their ability, safety is ultimately your own responsibility. Watch for traffic!

🏥First Aid Stations

First aid will be provided by nurses from the Family Life Center.

🏆Awards

Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group and must be claimed at the event. The age groups are as follows:

• Under 20
• 20 - 35
• 36 - 50
• 51 - 65
• 66 and Over

Free parking is available in the South East Parking Lot of the EPC. Signs will be posted.
