📅 Event Details

• Date: June 21, 2025
• 5K Start: Mountain Home Walking Path, East 8th Street
• 7 Mile Start: 1/2 Mile off of Bypass Road, West of the Granaries
• Location: Mountain Home, ID

🎗️ Purpose of the Race

The Freedom for Fighters 5K Walk/Run Event is presented to Mountain Home, Idaho in honor of all who are crushed in spirit: specifically, those who carry the hidden wounds of PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and Depression. This event is brought to you by the Jason Barney Family and the City of Mountain Home.

🎒 Backpack Initiative

• Unique Concept: Participants have the option to fill a backpack with donated canned goods to represent the burdens carried by those crushed in spirit.
• Message of Inspiration: Participants are encouraged to bring their own new backpacks and canned goods labeled with inspirational messages.
• Checkpoint Unloading: There will be designated checkpoints where participants will unload a portion of their backpack's weight.
• Celebration of Finish: All participants will be celebrated as they finish, highlighting the message of completing the race, not racing to finish.

💖 Charitable Contributions

The Barney Family's goal and vision is to bring freedom to all who are fighting hidden battles and to END SILENT SUFFERING. They remind those who are crushed in spirit that they are never alone. Proceeds from the event will support:

• Veterans: Charitable organizations supporting veterans.
• First Responders: Aid for first responders battling PTSD.
• Abuse Victims: Support for victims of abuse.
• Healing Ranch: Future construction of a healing ranch for holistic healing.

🌍 Virtual Option

We also offer a Virtual Race for those who do not feel comfortable attending the in-person event, allowing the message of hope to spread worldwide. This race will allow participants to complete the 5K (or 3.1 miles) at their own time and location within 55 days, starting from Memorial Day.

After completing your walk/run, please post a picture and tag the Freedom for Fighters Facebook page. We encourage participants to share personal testimonies of healing through Freedom for Fighters to help others.
