🎉 Race Overview
Event: Celebrate the 218th birthday of Portland, Maine's No. 1 bard, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, with an in-person 2.5K run or 2.5K walk on Congress St., or a virtual 2.5K swim.
Date: The in-person event takes place on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
Note: New Start/Finish line for the third year in a row.
🏅 Awards and Prizes
Runners and Walkers: New Running Shoes for two participants chosen at random: My First Race Award for participants 10 and under: Victorian Winter Running Attire Award: cash prizes for course records.
Special Prizes: Recognitions for completing all three events, which include both in-person and virtual options.
Swimmers: A trophy plaque for male and female participants with the fastest 2.5K swim times.
Team Spirit: Gather friends or family to create a team and participate together!
📅 Race Day Details
Registration: Race day registration and bib pick-up from 7am—8:45am at Equality Community Center, 15 Casco St., Portland, Maine.
Awards Ceremony: Takes place at 10am on the same day at the Equality Community Center.
Start/Finish Line: Located at the intersection of Congress and Casco Streets, opposite the entrance of Maine College of Art.
Course Route: Participants will proceed from the Start west on Congress St. to Longfellow Square, turn around, then head east down Congress to the intersection of Congress and Franklin, turn around again, and finish back at the Start/Finish Line.

Parking Availability: Easy to find parking on neighboring streets on a Sunday morning.
Free Parking: Street parking in downtown Portland is free on Sundays.
Parking Restrictions: Please do not park on Congress St.
🏊♂️ Virtual Swim Details
Laps Requirements: Complete 54.5 laps in a 25-yard pool or 50 laps in a 25-meter pool.
Open Water Swim: Documented as one continuous swim by a smartwatch or timed by a lifeguard or race-approved swimming coach.
