Shining a Light on Domestic Violence

🏃‍♀️ Event Overview

Join us this June for Shinning a Light on Domestic Violence, an Awareness Event and 5K GLOW RUN! This event is a time dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence, honoring those we have lost in the battle, and showing support to survivors and their families as well as giving hope to those that still feel like there's no way out.

📊 Significance of the Event

• Urgency: The event is especially important because as funding from the state continues to decrease, the cases on domestic violence have not.
• Statistics: In Alabama alone in 2022, there were over 300k reported cases of domestic violence, with many more that have gone unreported.
• Community Impact: This run is more than just a race: it is a collective stride towards fostering hope and support for survivors and their community.
• Awareness Month: We host this event during Domestic Violence Awareness month to emphasize the importance of open conversations, speaking out, reporting, supporting, and healing from what has been done to you.

💰 Funding and Support

All funds collected go to Domestic Violence Crisis Services of Marshall County and Kelley’s Rainbow Domestic Violence Shelter located in Marshall County. It is the only domestic violence shelter providing services for Cherokee, Dekalb, and Marshall County's, with only 19 beds to house women and children in need of temporary relocation until a permanent solution can be found.

🏅 Run Information

• Cost: $35 per Virtual racer, this includes a shirt and commemorative medal.
• In-Person Cost: $45 per in-person racer, this includes a shirt, runner bib (qualifying race), and commemorative medal with a chance at a placement trophy.
• Shirt Availability: Shirts available with registration by June 1st (any person registering after June 1st is not promised a shirt with the size of their choosing).
• Size Options: Youth sizes Small - X-Large and Adult sizes X-Small - 5X.

👕 SWAG Info

Additional shirts (multiple design options available) can be bought for you and your family while supplies last at the event or if you would like to pre-order your family shirts by June 1st, you can do so with the link on our Facebook page for $25. We will have a small number available for on-site sales.
