Niseβs Race was created in loving memory of my mom, Catherine Denise Thompson, affectionately known to many as βNise.β On October 13, 2018, after a courageous 5-year battle with cervical cancer, she passed away.

- People Person: She was a true βhuggerβ who radiated warmth.
- Career Passion: Loved working with children as a paraprofessional at Scoggins Middle School and Dallas Elementary School.
- Family Life: A devoted wife to Army veteran Larry Thompson, they shared 36 years of marriage.
- Legacy: She passed away at the age of 56, leaving behind three daughters and two grandsons.
