🏊♂️ About the Race
When? June 14th, 2025. Registration opens at 7:00 a.m. The race begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 9 a.m. followed by an awards party.
Where? Batesville Community and Aquatics Center
Why? Each registration supports adults learning to read and write in your area. OFLP is a 501(c)3 nonprofit serving Independence, Sharp, Izard, Jackson, and Stone counties in North Central Arkansas. We teach adults to read, write, and do basic math, and/or to speak English. We also host special programs for families and community education throughout the year. Our family programs served 451 in 2023. All of our services are free and confidential. We rely on grants, donations, and fundraisers like this one to keep our doors open and our services available to all in need.
🎉 What to Expect
Our 2025 race will be at the Batesville Community and Aquatics Center. It will be all indoor.
- Swim: Kids will swim in the competition pool (floaties and life jackets allowed for younger children).
- Run: Then run down the hall to the walking track to finish the run portion.
- Safety: Each child will have an assigned volunteer following them through the race for safety and direction.
- Options: Children may register for "run only" if they are uncomfortable swimming.

Register online or by phone ahead of time for the best deal on your race fee.
- Scholarships: SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE.
- Packet Pickup: Race packets containing t-shirts, race numbers, and waivers may be picked up on Wednesday, June 4th at our office at 184 N 5th St. in Batesville between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Day-of Registration: Registration will open at 7:00 a.m. on the day of. Day-of registration is $20.
- Guarantee: However, we can only guarantee t-shirt sizes for pre-registered participants.
🏃♀️ Race Legs
Participants will be divided into age groups and will go in the pool first.
- Floaties: Floaties and life vests may be used by younger children in the pool.
- Track: Racers will then put on their shoes and proceed down the hall to the walking track to complete the run portion.
- Activities: There will be activities planned for the children for after the race out on the party deck to keep the fun going until everyone finishes and awards are ready to be presented.
- Products: Each participant will receive a t-shirt, medal, $5 voucher for aquatics park entry, and a goody bag from our sponsors.
📏 Run and Swim Distances By Age Group
Age 4-6: Pool Swim 25 yards, Run .25 mi
Age 7-9: Pool Swim 50 Yards, Run .5 Mile
Age 10-12: Pool Swim 100 Yards, Run .75 Mile
Age 13-18: Pool Swim 150 Yards, Run 1 Mile
