The Peyton Irwin Foundation is having its 5th annual run/walk....a great race for an even greater cause!! Peyton loved pineapples, therefore leading us to name this run the Pineapple Run. Join us as we bring awareness to the dangers of distracted driving.
AND....thatβs not all - be sure to stick around for the special event that is being planned! Cross the finish line and step back in time and dance the night away at the DISCO! (And those not participating in the race are also welcome to the DISCO!)
On March 29, 2019, Peyton Irwin was traveling to San Antonio Texas to support her Alma Mater Drill Team at a state competition. Unfortunately, Peyton never made it to the event because she, along with three other passengers in the vehicle, was killed by a distracted driver. The driver of the vehicle was on the phone texting - not seeing the stopped car Peyton was in - and applied his brakes just .06 seconds prior to hitting their vehicle while traveling approximately 60 miles per hour. It is so important to educate people on the dangers of texting, social media, handling phones, and other distractions while driving a vehicle. Had he been paying attention, he could have seen them and slowed down, or swerved to miss them. We want to prevent this from happening to anyone else! Thank you for participating in this yearβs event to help us spread awareness of the dangers of distracted driving.
