👩🏫 A Tribute to Ann Marie McGhee
Every now and then, a person comes into your life who enriches your world in unforgettable ways and even when they are no longer around, you are forever changed for the positive. Ann Marie McGhee was that person. Mrs. McGhee touched the lives of so many people just by virtue of who she is, and her influence grew throughout her career as an educator. Teachers like Mrs. McGhee are rare gems. Every student who was fortunate enough to be in Mrs. McGhee’s class can attest to the immense positive influence she had. Mrs. McGhee had the innate ability to reach every student in her class and help them to become the best version of themselves.

Mrs. McGhee possessed so many amazing qualities that made her an amazing educator and person.
- Dedicated: She was dedicated to her work and deeply passionate about education.
- Inclusive: She was inclusive to everyone no matter the person’s background or culture.
- Problem Solver: Whenever a problem arose, she did not hesitate to jump in and work.
- Pride: Mrs. McGhee loved to learn, adored her students, and had tremendous pride in Horse Creek Academy.
🏆 Scholarship Recognition
2023-2024 Ann Marie McGhee Scholarship Recipient: Matt Godson ($1000 Scholarship)
In honor of Ann Marie, the 5th grade teachers at HCA created the Ann Marie McGhee Award, given yearly to an outstanding 5th grader beginning in 2023.
- Inclusive: Characteristics include being inclusive, giving, and helpful.
- Organized: Award winners must be organized and dedicated.
- Problem Solver: Recognize those who exhibit problem-solving skills.
- Loves Learning: Candidates should express a love for learning and pride in HCA.
