🏃♂️ Race Overview
The North Olympic Discovery Marathon, Marathon Walk, Marathon Relay and Half Marathon take place on a unique point to point course that incorporates the beautiful Olympic Discovery Trail with stunning views of the Olympic Mountains and a five mile finishing stretch along the shores of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The 10K, 5K and Kids Marathon are an out-and-back along the shores of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
🌅 Wildlife and Scenery
- Frequent sightings: Seals, eagles, and an array of shore birds are common from the trail.
- Iconic landmarks: Trestle bridges provide beautiful backdrops.
- Salmon spawning: Can be seen at the Morse Creek crossing in the fall.
- Beautiful venue: The North Olympic Discovery Marathon is truly one of the most beautiful marathon venues anywhere.

- Trail surface: This rails to trails course is a wide, hard surface (99% paved).
- Mile markings: The course is marked at every mile.
- Water stations: Located approximately every two miles.
- Weather expectations: Cool June weather can be expected – average high is 65F, average low is 49F, average mean is 57F.
👟 Organization
The race is organized by the Port Angeles Marathon Association – a group of accomplished amateur athletes.
🇺🇸 Certification
The Marathon is a USATF certified course and a Boston Marathon qualifier.
