Teal Diva is hosting our 10th Annual 5k run/walk event on Saturday, May 3rd at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, NC with a virtual option.

💚 About Teal Diva

• Focus: Teal Diva focuses on the mental and emotional health of those affected by a gynecologic cancer.
• Goal: Our goal is to meet our community where they are by connecting with newly diagnosed women, survivors, and their support network.
• Programs: Our programs include, but are not limited to active treatment support, celebrating survivorship, and honoring legacies.
• Impact: Teal Diva strives to touch every woman diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer, fostering strength, hope and resilience through shared stories.

🔍 The Importance of Awareness

What’s the story with ovarian and other gynecologic cancers? Why is it so different?

• Symptoms: Symptoms of ovarian cancer often mimic what women face on a monthly basis (bloating, trouble with your bladder, abdominal pain, eating less and feeling full), making it hard to detect.
• Nickname: Ovarian cancer has been given the nickname "Silent Killer" due to its vague symptoms.
• Lack of Screening: There is not a screening test for ovarian cancer, unlike the Pap Smear for cervical cancer or Mammogram for breast cancer.
• Early Detection: If caught in early stages, ovarian cancer is 90% more treatable in most cases, emphasizing the need for awareness and symptom knowledge.
