Hokie Half Marathon and 5K

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

COME TO BEAUTIFUL BLACKSBURG, VIRGINIA THIS FALL AND RUN WITH THE HOKIES! It is the thirteenth year of the Hokie Half Marathon and 5K! It will take place Sunday, September 28th, 2025. So come join us and earn your 13th anniversary Hokie Bird finisher medal. We have live bands, beautiful scenery, terrific race support, and some awesome race swag!

📍 Race Info

• Registration: You can register for the 2025 Hokie Half Marathon & 5k on this website or by mailing a hard copy form to RunAbout Sports.
• Limits: The Hokie Half Marathon is limited to 2000 participants and the Hokie 5K is limited to 500 runners and walkers.
• Start Time: 7:30 am for the half marathon and 8:00 am for 5K.
• Temperature: Average temperature at the start time: 55 degrees: at 10 am: 61 degrees.

💰 Registration Fees

Online Registration Closes 09/26/25 at 7 pm. Paper forms will be accepted until 8 pm on 9/27/2025 at packet pickup.

• Hokie Half Marathon: Price Level One: $85 Before 8/20/2025: Price Level Two: $95 8/20/2025 - 9/19/2025: Price Level Three: $100 9/20/2025 - 9/27/2025 (no race day registration).
• No-Frills Option: Only receive Hokie Bird Finisher Medal and finish line food without participant shirt or gift. Price Level One: $70 Before 8/20/2025.
• Hokie 5k: Price Level One: $32 Before 8/20/2025: With Finisher Medal: Price Level One: $45 Before 8/21/2024.
• Virtual Race: Includes shipping, Finisher Medal, and more. Virtual option from September 22nd to Sept 30th with proof of completion required.

🔄 Cancellation and Transfer Policy

Registration fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. We do allow the transfer of your bib number to someone else as long as it is done by September 15th, 2025.

• Transfers: Transfers are allowed to next year until September 22nd, 2025.
• Changing Races: Change races with a $10 fee unless transferring from the half to the 5K with a finisher medal.
• No Exceptions: NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

🏅 Awards

HOKIE HALF MARATHON AWARDS:

• Overall Awards: 1st place male and female: $500: 2nd place: $300: 3rd place: $200.
• Age Group Awards: Awards for the top three male and female finishers in various age divisions.
• Finisher Medals: All Half Marathon finishers, including No-Frills participants, receive a Hokie Bird Half Marathon finisher medal.

📝 Packet Pick-Up Policy

• Limited Pick-Up: Very limited on race day at the bag drop-off tent.
• Main Pick-Up: Available Saturday between noon and 8 pm at the University Mall.
• Picking Up for Friends: Allowed with a note and ID.

🚦 Race Day Logistics

• Parking: Shuttle buses available from Virginia Tech’s Chicken Hill starting at 5:30 am.
• Drop Off: Available at the Virginia Tech Airport across from the start/finish area.
• Time Limit: Four-hour limit for the Hokie Half Marathon: course support unavailable after 11:30 am.

📍 Course Maps

The 2025 course will be the same as in previous years and is certified by USATF.

🏨 Complimentary Entries

Available for those achieving specific Half Marathon standards on a certified course within the last year.

• Standards: Men: Sub 1:09:00: Women: Sub 1:22:00.
