The 19th Annual Beach Blast 5K is one of the region's premier road races.

🎉 The Beginning

Back in 2004, at one of the first meetings of the newly formed Uwharrie Running Club, Peter Asciutto, Derek Blalock, Matt Greene, Lee Allen and Joanne Rinker met at the Firehouse Cafe in Downtown Albemarle and put together our plan for the 1st ever Beach Blast 5K. We asked ourselves "What makes a great race?"

• Course: A great course.
• Goody Bag: Awesome goody bag with stuff in them.
• T-shirts: Cool t-shirts.
• Post Race Snacks: Great post race snacks and awards.

19 years later, those goals are still the same.

🏆 Our Goal

Our goal is to put on a first-class race that is challenging and fun. In 2023 we will limit the race to 300 participants.

👕 Upgrades

We are upgrading to a super soft premium shirt and medal this year!

Awards will be given to the top 3 in each age category:

• Categories: 0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
