🦃 Race Overview

We are so excited to bring back an awesome Outer Banks tradition in the Town of Southern Shores! Show your thanks this Thanksgiving by running as a family in the 15th annual OBX Turkey Trot. Thanksgiving morning is a perfect time to be surrounded by family and friends in the beautiful town of Southern Shores. Lace up your sneakers and come on out to run or walk with us! We have pancakes for all participants, one of a kind raffles, the first place male and female will take home our amazing Thanksgiving Pies specially made for your thanksgiving meal! Each finisher will also receive a finishers themed medal!

🏃‍♂️ Supporting a Cause

The OBX Turkey Trot is a 5k and children’s fun run to support the non-profit organization, OBX GO FAR (Go Out For A Run). OBX GO FAR is a non-profit children’s program designed to fight childhood obesity by educating children on healthy habits and positive character traits all while training for a 5K or Fun Run. Your support in our fundraiser event would help us scholarship more children into the program. This year marks our 15th Anniversary of OBX GO FAR and your support has touched the lives of over 10,000 participants in our program!

👨‍👩‍👦 Family Fun Event

Encouragement: Parents are encouraged to come out and run with their children.
Time Tracking: This is a family fun event, if you want to know your time wear a watch or make sure you look at the clock at the finish line!

🗓️ Registration Details

Opening Date: Online registration will open September 1st for 5K for $40 and 1 Mile Fun Run for $20.
T-shirt Information: Each registered participant will receive our awesome, one-of-a-kind Turkey Trot T-shirt during the qualifying registration period (9/1- 10/31).
Price Increase: Price increase is November 1st.

BEST OF ALL…BACK AGAIN THIS YEAR THE LARGEST FLOCK/FAMILY OR TEAM WILL WIN THE NEW GIGANTIC (6 FOOT TALL) LARGEST FLOCK TROPHY! WE DOUBLED THE SIZE BECAUSE WE LIKE TO DOUBLE THE CHALLENGE FOR YOUR BIG FAMILIES! SO CALL ALL YOUR PEEPS, REGISTER AND TAKE HOME THE GOLD!

📝 Late Registration Info

If spots are still available, on-site registration will be available (t-shirts will not be guaranteed at on-site registration) at Packet Pick-up Wednesday, November 27th from 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm. Race Day Registration is on November 28th. It is open from 7:30 am – 8:00 am ONLY and at the Pitts Center, located at 5377 N Virginia Dare Trail Southern Shores, besides the goodwill. THE RACE BEGINS AT 8:30AM!

🚗 Parking Information

It will be available at the Southern Shores town hall or at the Southern Shores Crossing shopping center off of HWY 12 on Ocean Boulevard. Please do not park in the Goodwill shopping center located behind town hall. We will have a parking attendant to advise you where to park that morning. The 5k will start at the town hall of Southern Shores. This is not a timed event: it is a family fun event. Please wear a watch and observe the race clock to keep track of your time.

👶 Children’s Fun Run Info

During the qualifying registration period, we will be including Youth-size shirts for the FUN RUN, which is tailored for children 12 and under. This 1-mile run is scheduled to kick off around 9:30 am, immediately following the OBX TURKEY TROT!

📦 Packet Pickup Info

Wednesday, November 27th, 3-5:30 pm at the Pitts Center building next to Town of Southern Shores Town Hall. Located at 5377 N. Virginia Dare Trail at the turn off toward Duck. Next door to Goodwill.

🎽 Race Amenities

T-shirts: One-of-a-kind OBX TURKEY TROT t-shirts! Shirt Sizes are available in Youth -Small-Large and Adult – Small to XXL.
Breakfast: Hot Breakfast (Pancakes).
Raffles: AWESOME Raffles!! A chance to win our 6 FOOT TALL FLOCK TROPHY for the largest group! & a Finishers Medal!

🏁 Race Course

Race Start is behind the Town of Southern Shores complex located at 5375 N. Virginia Dare Trail at the turn-off toward Duck. Next door to Goodwill. This is a point-to-point race with the Race finishing at Southern Shores Crossing Shopping Center. The Fun Run will begin at the Southern Shores Crossing and will be a out-and-back run.
