Race Type: Sound the Alarm 5K race/walk is a gentle out and back course on Madison Pike through historical portion of Independence, KY. Elevations changes along the course are less than 45’.
Schedule: Opening ceremonies begin at 8:10 a, the run/walk race starts at 8:30am.

📦 Packet Pick Up
Location: Independence Fire District, Company 1, 1980 Delaware Crossing, Independence, KY
Pre-Race: Friday, September 26th, 10 – 5pm.
Race Day: packet pick up at race site 7:30am-7:45am
Note: There is no race day sign up. Shirts and bibs can be picked up that morning for those unable to pick them up on Friday.

💙 Mission
Purpose: The mission of the Sound the Alarm 5K Run/Walk is to provide awareness and financial support to the first responder community.
Support: This year’s race will help by raising funds for the families of firefighters, police officers, and emergency medical staff providers killed in the line of duty.
Collaboration: The Independence Professional Firefighters Union Local 3945 will partner with Hickory Grove Baptist Church and Supporting Heroes.
Supporting Heroes: Louisville Kentucky based company assisting families of fallen first responders.
🤝 Support and Assistance
Emergency Support: Supporting Heroes presents a $5,000 ‘emergency funds’ check to the most immediate financially dependent survivor.
Additional Aid: They provide ongoing monthly financial support while assisting in obtaining benefits.
Memorial Team: A specially trained team assists in rendering honors and supporting families, co-workers, and communities.
Community Events: Supporting Heroes holds events throughout the year to support families of fallen first responders.
🏁 Race Logistics
Start Time: All participants will start at 8:30, with no corrals: faster pace runners start towards the front, walkers line up in the back.
Virtual Race: Virtual participants will receive shirt/medal by mail following the live race day.
Time Limit: All participants have 90 minutes to complete the course: after that, they will be asked to finish on the sidewalk.
Staggered Start: If participant numbers allow, a staggered start will be conducted based on running/walking ability.
