Runners, joggers and walkers of ALL ages and abilities are invited to the eighth annual Hanukkah 8 Krazy Kilometers, an 8K run organized by TEMPLE BETH EL of Bakersfield, California, in celebration of the eight-day Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. This family-friendly community event also includes the 2K Latke Loop Fun Run.
The 8K and 2K runs will take place on Sunday, December 14 at the beautiful PANORAMA VISTA PRESERVE (panoramavista.org). The race start time is 8:30 AM. The 8K and 2K courses will take participants through scenic natural preserve land situated along the Kern River in northeast Bakersfield. This riparian woodland area is home to many native plants and animals and includes hiking, biking and equestrian trails.
Race day festivities will include music and giveaways.
Run or walk (or skip, skate, swim, bike, treadmill, etc.) ANYWHERE and ANYTIME during the eight days of Hanukkah . . . Monday, December 15 through Monday, December 22.
Participants will be able to download a custom race bib, run or walk an 8K or 2K distance at a location of their choosing (e.g., neighborhood, running trail, stairwell, etc.), post their results on the "RESULTS" page, and download a finisher's certificate. PLUS teams with three or more virtual event members will receive a registration discount. And back this year is a RACE RAFFLE for registrants of the virtual event. The drawing will take place on Facebook Live (check back for date and time).
Unfortunately, packet pickup is not available for the virtual event.
Race proceeds will benefit TEMPLE BETH EL (templebethelbakersfield.org), a Reform Jewish synagogue and tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and the KERN RIVER PARKWAY FOUNDATION (kernriverparkway.org), a local nonprofit that works to protect, preserve and restore the natural riparian and wildlife habitat of the Kern River.
