Saltillo Donut Dash 5K

🍩 About the Race

• Event: The Saltillo Jr. Women’s Club (SJWC) is planning to host our second annual Donut Dash in Saltillo, Mississippi, on Saturday, April 19th, 2025.
• Purpose: This run is a major fundraiser for the Saltillo Jr Women’s Clubs Blessing Bags and Shining Stars programs.

🎒 About Blessing Bags

• Purpose: The Blessing Bags program is a backpack program in which we supply children in need within the Saltillo/Guntown schools with food items for the weekends while they are not in school.
• Contents: We pack the bags with breakfast, lunch, and snack options. All food selections are non-perishable and “kid friendly”.
• Current Reach: We currently provide 78 children with Blessing Bags weekly.
• Cost: The total monthly cost of running the Blessing Bags program is roughly $1,650 or approximately $21 per child.

🎁 About Shining Stars

• Purpose: Our club also organizes the Shining Stars program, which serves Saltillo/Guntown students, providing needs at Christmas time.
• Items Provided: We provide 3 shirts, 3 pairs of pants, 1 jacket/hoodie, underwear, socks, a pair of shoes, and a toiletry bag to each child.
• Wishlist: Each child also receives “wishlist item(s)” that we budget at $50 for a toy or other special Christmas gift.
• Sponsorship: We ask sponsors to agree to spend $200 to cover the costs of an entire star: however, realistically, the cost has risen above this amount.

🤝 Support & Future Initiatives

• Identification: Students are identified by teachers and counselors to preserve anonymity.
• Future Goals: We hope to see the Donut Dash gain popularity to fully support our programs.
• Year-Round Assistance: This will help us expand to provide assistance year-round for food and clothing to students in need.
