Wilmington Whiteface Whiskey Run

Event Overview

Welcome to beautiful Wilmington, NY, the home of Whiteface Mountain and the 8th annual Whiskey Run 5K and 10K!

Race History

• Historic Context: The area has quite a storied history with liquor, legal and otherwise.
• War of 1812: Wilmington supplied good rye whiskey to the American troops at the Battle of Plattsburgh as part of their daily ration.
• Prohibition Era: Wilmington residents provided temporary haven for bootleggers crossing the border.
• US Barrel: Until recently, Wilmington was home to a whiskey barrel cooperage.

Race Details

• Start Time: The race starts at 9:30 am at Preston Festival Field in Wilmington.
• Awards Ceremony: Following the race with food available for purchase at Preston Festival Field.
• Participant Gear: Run participants will receive a t-shirt and a “swag bag” filled with quality local goods.
• Finisher Medals: All finishers will receive a medal.

Virtual Option

• Timing: 5K & 10K - Times must be turned in by 11:30 AM to qualify as a race finisher.
• Flexibility: You can run anywhere anytime between 8 AM and 11:30 AM on Saturday, June 20.
• Results Submission: Submit your official results through text message or email (instructions will be sent).
• Accessibility: This option allows participants to join from anywhere.

T-Shirts

• Order Information: Order t-shirts with registration, available in various sizes.
• Size Details: Ladies’ sizes run small and have a V-neck with shorter sleeves.
• Men's Sizes: Available in small, medium, large, extra-large.

Registration & Pick-up

• Packet Pick-up: 8 am- 9:15 am at the registration booth at Festival Field on Springfield Road.
• Race-day Registration: Limited registration available the day of the event from 8:00 am – 9:15 am.

Parking Information

• Parking Locations: Town Offices Parking Lot across from Festival Field.
• Additional Parking: “Village garage” lot and on-street parking on the west side of Springfield Road.
• Important Note: No parking in the running lanes on Springfield Road.

Prizes & Awards

• Awards Presentation: Prizes presented at 11:45 am, followed by a special In-person Runner’s Raffle Drawing.
• Awards Categories: For top three overall finishers in both the 5K and 10K, male and female.
• Age Categories: Top 3 male and female finishers in age categories (19 & under, 20-29, etc.).
• Virtual Race Awards: Awards for the top three overall finishers in both 5K and 10K, male and female.

Referrals

• Referral Program: Refer 5 or more participants and receive 1 free registration as our THANK-YOU.
• Check Confirmation: Check your confirmation email after you register.

Food & Vendors

• Lunch Options: Food for purchase from vendors available at Preston Festival Field on race day.

Sponsorship Opportunities

• Presenting Sponsorship: $1,000 for presenting sponsorship.
• Sponsorship Levels: Bourbon: $500, Rye: $250, Moonshine: $100.
• Registration: Interested sponsors can register & pay online by May 1st.

Photo Opportunities

• Unique Setup: A Whiskey Run photo frame set-up at Preston Festival Field Park during the week leading up to the race.
• Social Media: Participants are encouraged to take photos and share on social media.

Same-Day Activities

• Whiskey Tastings: Available from 11 am-4 pm, Preston Festival Field.
• Reenactors: 1812 Battle of Plattsburgh reenactors in period clothing with tents & demos, 11 am-4 pm.
• Military Ceremony: In remembrance of local War of 1812 soldiers, 12:30 pm at Preston Festival Field.
• Entertainment: Music and entertainment will be available throughout the day.

Weekend Activities

• Attractions: Wilmington Town Beach, High Falls Gorge, the gondola at Whiteface Mountain, and more.
• Outdoor Activities: Mountain biking trails, fishing, and kayaking the AuSable River.

Race Routes

• 10k Run Route: Must be completed by 11:30 AM to qualify as a race finisher, detailed directions provided.
• 5k Run Route: Must be completed by 11:30 AM to qualify as a race finisher, detailed directions provided.
• Important Note: Water stations and porta-potties are available along both routes.
