The Jackson River Scenic Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

• Course Details: The USATF certified course begins and ends at the Intervale Trail Head of The Jackson River Scenic Trail in Covington, Virginia.
• Terrain: The trail follows an old railroad bed of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway with a smooth crushed gravel surface that is mostly flat with some light hills.
• Scenery: The trail winds its way through small communities, cultivated fields, and small patches of woodland.
• Wildlife: It isn’t uncommon to see wildlife along the way.

☔ Weather Policy

• Rain or Shine: This is a rain or shine event.
• Weather Updates: Announcements regarding race status will be made on the website, on Facebook, and via local media in case of severe weather.
• Notification: Sufficient advanced notice will be sent to the email submitted with your registration if applicable.

🏆 Awards

• Finisher Medals: All finishers receive a commemorative finisher's medal.
• Top Finishers: Unique awards will be given to the overall top 3 male and female finishers of the marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K races.
• Age Group Awards: The top three male and female finishers in each age group of each race will receive a certificate of accomplishment.
• Awards Ceremony: The ceremony will be at the Intervale Trail Head 30 minutes following the completion of each distance.

🥤 Refreshments

• Finish Line Refreshments: Refreshments will be provided for all race participants at the Intervale finish line.
• Awards Attendance: Please note that awards will NOT be mailed so please attend the ceremony for your race!
• T-shirt Cutoff: Register by May 14, 2025, if you want a T-shirt. After that date, there is no guarantee that a shirt will be available for you on race day.
• Packet Pick-up: Packet Pick-up will be from noon-4pm at the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Tourism and 5pm - 8pm at the City Hall Building on Friday, June 13th.
