We are excited to announce the FOURTH annual Race4Justice on June 7th. This event was designed by a women-led student group. Inspired by Breonna Taylor, the movement that followed her tragic loss, and the many other injustices we’ve seen and experienced, this race is about uniting our city to move forward. Proceeds from the event will be donated to nonprofits doing justice work in the city and world. This year's events are listed below.
Team Format: 5-person teams complete a relay of 26 total laps. The FASTEST team wins. Your team can divvy up the 26 laps however you all would like.
Competitive Nature: This event is for our fastest and most competitive participants.
Dedication: Each of the 26 laps is dedicated to one year of Breonna Taylor's life.
Accessibility: Our most popular and accessible event! Walk, jog, roll together as a team and/or divvy up the laps.
Any Pace: Go at any pace you want and take as many breaks as you need!
Support Justice: This event is about showing your support for justice and getting as many people to raise money for our organizations.
Dedication: Each of the 26 laps is dedicated to one year of Breonna Taylor's life.
Solo Participation: Join us solo and complete 5 laps (1.3 miles) however you want to run, walk, jog, roll...
Encouragement: If you're able, we encourage everyone to try to create a team to bring in more people!
Inclusivity: But, we're happy for anyone that wants to show up to support!
Move with us in solidarity even if you can’t be here in person. You don’t have to run, but we hope you will find a movement that honors our symbolism.
Flexibility: Run/walk/roll for 26 minutes, 26 miles, 5 blocks, 1.3 miles...swim 26 laps...do 26 minutes on the treadmill...bike for 5 miles... meditate for 26 minutes... or anything you can think of!
It's not just a race...it’s a celebration! During the race, you will also hear speakers and see videos depicting our journey highlighting the work of our non-profit partners.
Entertainment: The day will also include a celebration of justice with speakers, music, and entertainment.
Engagement: There will be booths from local justice organizations to provide even more opportunity for you to engage in justice work.
Venue Highlights: Our participants will also get to enjoy the beautiful facility at the Norton Sports and Learning Complex which includes rock climbing and bowling. Food trucks and vendors will be on-site.
We want our city to run, march, walk, dance as we move Forward. Together. For Justice.
