🏃‍♂️ 5th Annual Guzi’s Hunt for the Cure Run/Walk

We are thrilled to announce the 5th Annual Guzi’s Hunt for the Cure Run/Walk for Huntington’s Disease, taking place on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Oak Creek’s Lake Vista Park. Thanks to the incredible support from our sponsors, participants, and generous donors, we have raised over $300,000 in the past four years for the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) – Wisconsin Chapter and Guzi’s Hunt For The Cure Foundation, Inc. This year, we aim to continue this momentum and achieve our fundraising goal of $75,000.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 About Chris Guzikowski and Huntington’s Disease

• Diagnosis: In 2020, Chris Guzikowski received a life-altering diagnosis of Huntington’s Disease (HD).
• Impact: HD affects approximately 41,000 individuals in the U.S. and has no cure.
• Symptoms: HD manifests as ALS, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s, leading to multiple debilitating symptoms.
• Family Concern: Chris’s three daughters face a 50% chance of inheriting this devastating condition.

❤️ A Personal Journey with Huntington’s Disease

• Heartbreaking News: In 2023, Chris’s daughter Carley Renner learned she also carries the Huntington’s gene.
• Fertility Assistance: They received a grant for high-cost fertility assistance to ensure their biological children would be HD-free.
• New Beginnings: In 2024, they welcomed a healthy baby boy into their family!
• Foundation Establishment: Inspired by their journey, Carley and Nate established Guzi’s Hunt for the Cure Foundation, Inc.

• Mission: The foundation is dedicated to raising awareness about Huntington’s Disease and pre-implantation genetic testing.
• Support: The first recipients are currently undergoing Preimplantation Genetic Testing - In Vitro Fertilization (PGT-IVF).
• Grants: We are advancing our mission by awarding a second grant to a deserving couple.
• Proceeds: This year’s fundraising efforts will support both the foundation and HDSA - WI Chapter.
