- Local Icon: Galloping Gertie is the nickname of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
- Breathtaking Views: Crossing the bridge provides breathtaking views of the Puget Sound and surrounding landscapes.
- Historic Collapse: The original bridge suffered a catastrophic collapse in November 1940 due to aeroelastic flutter.
- Replacement Bridges: The existing westbound bridge opened in 1950, and the newer eastbound bridge opened in 2007.
