With Fairfax County being one of the wealthiest counties in our nation, it's surprising to hear that there are a significant number of children who do not have enough food to eat on a regular basis. In 2019, 23,000 children experienced food insecurity. Now, because of COVID-19 and record inflation that number has doubled, leaving 1 in every 6 kids in Fairfax County suffering from food insecurity.
The Feed Fairfax 5K on May 3rd, 2025 is a fun 3.1 mile road race through the Greenbriar neighborhood in Fairfax. The race is organized with community partners to raise money and provide food for kids in Fairfax County suffering from food insecurity.
What makes this race incredibly unique is that after the race, all participants and volunteers will have the opportunity to assemble Power Packs for elementary school children within our community.

This year all fun run participants (1-milers) will have their race/walk timed thanks to Molly Craig, Realtor®. Participation in the Mighty Mile is optional, but your time will be posted to our results after the conclusion of the event.
We will be posting them on our site under the results section shortly after the race. Ensure your number is facing front and visible as you finish as you will be able to sort and find the photos by your race number.
Many children rely on free and reduced-price meals at school for food. A Power Pack, which contains seven meals, helps to alleviate hunger for local children in need over the weekend when not in school. All of the Power-Packs assembled at the runner's village will be distributed after the race and eaten the next weekend (10-12 May). Last year in the last three years we had over 1,500 people participate in the race, we packed and donated over 90,000 meals and raised $131,000. This year we are trying to raise $80,000, which will allow us to pack and fund over 23,000 meals for hungry children in our county!
