🏃‍♂️ Race Overview

Join us for the 37th running of the Tom Fleming Sunset Classic sponsored by Brookdale Shop Rite, which benefits the Bloomfield Educational Foundation and the Vocational Educational Special Training (V.E.S.T) program.

We are the USATF-NJ COED Team Championship.

There will be hot dogs, beverages, ice cream, and beer. Fun for the whole family!!

Kids Infield Sprints for 2 to 12 year olds, the growing Rick Petersen Mile for all ages, and of course the Tom Fleming 5 Mile.

🏆 Awards for the 5 Mile Race

• Overall Winners: Top 3 overall open winners Male and Female: 1st Place $150, 2nd Place $125, 3rd Place $100.
• Bloomfield Winners: Top overall Male and Female Bloomfielder.
• Masters Winners: Top 3 Masters Male and Female based on PLP %: 1st $100, 2nd $75, 3rd $50.
• Age Group Awards: Top 3 male and female in each division (10 to 13, 14 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69, 70 to 74, 75 to 79, 80 to 84, 85 to 89, 90+).

🥈 Awards for Mile Race

• Overall Winners: Overall Male and Female - Medals to all finishers.
• Timing: Rick Petersen Mile will be a timed event!
• Gun Time: All awards are based on gun time.

📍 Parking Information

• Location: Parking lot behind the Town Pub 378 Broad St, Bloomfield.
• Alternate Parking: Memorial Park Parking lot 7-11 Division St, Bloomfield.
• Board of Ed Lot: Bloomfield Board of Ed parking lot 155 Broad Street - short warm-up to Race Site at Foley Field.
• Street Parking: Street parking on Baldwin St, Warren St, Osborne St, all off of Broad St.
• Road Closure: Broad St will be closed from Belleville Ave to Watchung Ave starting between 6:30 and 6:45pm.

🏅 About Tom Fleming

Thomas J. Fleming was an American distance runner who won the 1973 and 1975 New York City Marathon. He was also a two-time runner-up in the Boston Marathon in 1973 and 1974 and finished six times in the top ten in the BAA marathon. He was one of the founding fathers of the Sunset Classic.

📅 Packet Pickup and Registration

• Location: Packet Pick up at Fleet Feet Montclair 603 Bloomfield Ave Montclair, NJ 07042.
• Date: Tuesday June 24 from 12 Noon to 6:00pm and Wednesday June 25 from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
• Race Day Registration: June 26 at Bloomfield's Foley Field, starting at 5:00PM.
• Online Registrations: All Registrations will be online only this year. Bring your smart phone to register at Fleet Feet on Tuesday or Wednesday and Race Day! You can pay online with a CC, checks made out to the BEF or cash at packet pick up or race day.
